I decided I had to do yoga today even though my head still hurt. Is this headache ever going to disappear? Thanks family for these awesome headache genes 😉 I did get great language memorization genes though.
I remember reading somewhere that you aren’t supposed to say out loud when you have an ailment because then you make it “real”. Hmmm, I think my head hurts even when I am the only one that knows about it. I am human though, so sometimes I crave the empathy. I am only human.
We did keep our yoga light today. I found some yoga for kids on Netflix. The lady has a very relaxing voice and the narration is easy to understand. I guess it should be since it is for children. It is called Shanti Generation. I like how she always says “this pose will be different and look different for everyone”. It is good to remind us that we aren’t all in the same place. We need to be comfortable about where we are now. I need to remember to say something like this at least once each class (once I start teaching).
My mom and I also spent our regular taco Tuesday dinner drive listening to The Language of Yoga. It is a book and CD of Sanskrit words and asanas. It was a little dull when I tried to listen by myself, but with my mom with me…was a blast. We have fun trying to say the words and it is exciting when we actually do a good job. I am glad we are practicing this even though it is not a requirement. Learning the words in Sanskrit really gives the poses life. Their names have a lot of meaning in their original language. Not to mention we will sound much more scholarly when we throw out words like: Arda-Baddha-Padma-Pascimottanasana (half-bound-lotus-back-streched out- posture), right?
Happy learning yogis!
